Andrea Bocelli @ M.E.N. Arena

THE tender voice of Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli sometimes soothes,
often
exhilarates but always captivates.
It is these qualities which have won him worldwide recognition and which
also thrilled the audience at the M.E.N. Arena last night.
The operatic favourites were all sung in their original Italian. While
the
meaning of the words was lost on many of us, their beauty was made
apparent
to us all by this virtuoso.

Bocelli saved his best until last and his renditions of O Sole Mio by Di
Capua and Brindisi from Verdi's La Traviata brought the house down.
It's rare to see an opera singer pack a venue as if he were a rock star.
And
it's fantastic to see a performer able to make opera appeal to the
masses in
the way it was originally intended.
