NIAF NEWSLETTER
Fall 2002 Bocelli Dazzles NIAF Supporters During his June tour of the United States, acclaimed Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli gave many NIAF supporters the opportunity to enjoy more than just a great concert. In three cities, the NIAF offered premium seats that included a private post-concert reception with the singer. The proceeds went to the NIAF/Bocelli Scholarship in Music. NIAF hosted post-concert receptions in Chicago (June 7), New York City (June 13), and Washington, D.C. (June 15). In Chicago, Penny Kendall, a member of Governor George Ryan's staff, presented Bocelli with a proclamation from Governor Ryan declaring June 7 Andrea Bocelli Day. The Honorable Charles Gargano, chairman of Empire State Development Corporation, gave welcoming remarks to Bocelli and the 200 NIAF supporters at the New York post-concert reception. After the Washington D.C. show, Congresswoman Connie Morella presented Bocelli with a United States flag that had been flown over the Capitol building.
